Rachel's 12th Bday

Hi there, this weekend we celebrated Rachel's 12th bday. I want to apologize now for posting so many pictures of her weekend. If you're a crafter you won't be interested in these pics. Rachel had her long time friend since kindergarten sleep over Saturday night. Then on Sunday, we went to her favorite restaurant in SF and spent the day shopping.
This is Rachel just before coming down the stairs in the morning to pick up her gifts.

One of her favorite desserts - chocolate molten cake.

Lunch time on Sunday - Rachel's favorite restaurant since she was 7 years old.

One of the reasons why we love this restaurants - the pop overs are delicious!

In the stores, shopping, trying on clothes and being silly.

It was a fun weekend. Thanks Frances for joining us today.
Next weekend is our company sample sale on Saturday - can't wait. On Sunday, we'll be celebrating Christopher's 15th bday. The kid's birthday are 1 week apart.

Zipper Purse & Vintage Findings

I love last week's tutorial on Julie Collin's blog: http://www.theadventuresofbluegirlxo.blogspot.com. Wool zipper purses. I ran right to Craft Depot and bought tons of metal zippers (ten cents each). Can't beat that. Now I have enough to make a zillion of these pouches.

The purse was very easy to make. Good way to use up some of that scrap felted wool I've been storing. Last year I bought a new pair of Fiskars fabric scallop scissors on eBay. They're great for cutting scallops on fabric, which you can't do very well with the scallop scissors made for cutting paper. I don't think they make them anymore, but you can find them sometimes on eBay. Here's out it turned out.

Last week I picked up a couple of vintage items from this store called Urban Indigo. One is this jewelry box with a dancing ballerina...Lana had to convince me to get this one, and I'm so glad I did now. I can always use more room to store my jewelry.
.
Then I got this neat round tin stackable storage container. It's perfect for storing my flowers.

China Doll

Well, it's been 4 months and I've finally decided to add an accent to the cover of my calendar journal. I was inspiried by Sally Jean's art and decided to make up my own.
Here it is...

I love those china doll heads. The number 58 has no meaning - but I do like numbers on projects.
This one is the cover of my daily work journal - I did this one about 3 months ago.
I use the Levenger system - if you never heard of it and love note books - check this out, it's a great system that you can customize in so many ways. http://www.levenger.com/

Vintage Findings & Back Up To Tahoe Again

On Saturday Craft Depot had one of the vintage sales. I didn't get there until 12:30, but I was still able to find some great things. I found lots of vintage jewelry pieces, a Safeway cookbook for Maryl (I know you probably have enough), a ledger book (can never resist those), an old powder paint set, a couple of coin purses, a minature tin book, vintage buttons, an old mini grandmother photo album, etc.

Spring Break - The kids were off last week and we spent the end of the week in Tahoe. We went with another family, the Yu's. Our family are all down hill skiers - no snow boarders.

Northstar has a 6 person chair lift - it was fun to get us all on there together (while 2 people where sitting out at the lodge).

It was spring skiing conditions - I didn't need a jacket by the afternoon.

We had so much gear, we were so happy to find the cart and load all our stuff up.

Heading home...

Rachel's At It Again

The kids are off this week and Rachel is busy crafting day and night. This is what she's made so far. The first is an ipod case she made for Lana - if you know Lana, she goes to Starbucks at least once a day, so this is perfect for her.
Then she made 7 more ipod cases - she's on a roll. I love the pac man and etch-a-sketch ones. Then she made a mini lion (From the book "Felties" by Nelly Paillioux), cake (From "The Softies Kit" by Therese Laskey), a fried egg and a pink game boy controller and it's only Wednesday!
Here's Rachel's collection of felties she's made in the past. She just re-arranged them all tonight. It's filling up the whole fireplace.

Tomorrow we're headed to Tahoe for more skiing. Should be great weather and they just got some fresh snow recently. Good spring skiing, my favorite. We're going with another family - should be fun!

It's Easter at Maryl & Rocky's House

Rachel and I started off the morning baking sugar cookies. I bought this new Easter cookie kit from Williams Sonoma. The shapes and patterns that came with kit are really cute. A lot of work but fun at the same time.

Then we were off to Maryl & Rocky's house for the Easter party. The food was great, almost all the family members made it, we played games and did some crafts - it was perfect. Sorry, not pictured was Natalie & Joanne.

This is the newest member of our family - Owen Sato - just 4 months old.

Our host's: Rocky & Maryl

It was also Jason's birthday today.

Christopher & Steve playing ping pong before it started raining.

The results of making the Easter kit from Julie Collings - they turned out great.

Then more fun art, making assorted tags.
