Workshop - Canvas Art & Victorian Postcards

This weekend, I hosted a workshop where I taught how to make my Paige dolls on a collaged canvas and also my Victorian postcards. Here we are showing our adorable canvas pictures.

I wanted to share a couple of mini videos that my dear friend Nily made of our day and projects.

I just love the character and expression of each doll, all so different and adorable!
The second project was making Victorian postcards. Here are some of the finished projects:

I originally made some of these postcards last October.

We used images from the Victorian Fashions Dover book and some beautiful Anna Griffin tags.

I was so honored to have my pieces published in the Spring issue of Somerset Life 2015.

I love how they all turned out, so beautiful!

What a fun day we had creating together, I had the best students! Thank you everyone for your kind and generous gifts. I had a wonderful day! (Lois, we missed you - hope you're feeling better.)

And last but not least, I wanted to share a picture from my daughter's ballet recital this weekend. It was a beautiful performance and a lovely way to end the day!

Envelope Art

For some reason, I like collecting envelopes. I enjoy using them in my art journals for pockets. So, I decided to take a few of my small envelopes and embellish them. Here's what I came up with:

These envelopes also make creative holders for gift cards or money. I turned the envelope into a house and added an image of a Victorian woman taken from a Dover book.

For the envelope below, I used a vintage doll stamp from RubberMoon but unfortunately, they don't sell this image any more. I used some vintage text paper to create her skirt.

The doll image below is from Catherine Moore's Character Construction, Inner Child stamp collection. I used vintage text paper again for the skirt.

And below is the famous "Julia" face. I always love using her face on projects. I just discovered Piero Rornasetti is the artist.

I hope I've inspired you to embellish an envelope next time you need to give someone a gift card or money!

Red Lead Projects

Sorry, I haven't posted in awhile, I've been busy and haven't had time to create anything lately. I did want to share with you some projects I made a couple months ago using Red Lead stamps.

Red Lead sells some unique products, including these fun stamps. Here's some close ups of the stamps and the products I used for each project.

The tags I used above came from the Target $ bin section.

The dresses below remind me of bridesmaid dresses, but I think they would be cute on a tag or card too!

Using 6"x6" paper pads work great for small projects, since the scale of the prints are smaller.

And the 6"x6" pads take up less room, so needless to say, I love collecting them. :-)

The other benefit of using these pads, is that all the different papers in the pad coordinate, making it much quicker to create your project. 

And for the last project, I made a pin cushion dress form. It's about 6" tall and 2" wide.

The dress form started like this...

I first copied my metro issue paper onto fabric.  Next I wrapped the fabric around some stuffing and glued it to the back of the dress form. 

Then I just added some chains and ribbon.

Also, Happy Birthday to my daughter, Rachel and son, Christopher!

They celebrate their birthdays only one week apart.

So hard to believe how time flies...so proud of both of them!

And finally, I have to share this great photo of my daughter during her dance performance this weekend. She does both modern dance and ballet and has such grace and composure!
