Playing With Watercolorsl

I've been playing with mini watercolor sets, some from Prima and the new one Bright set from Jane Davenport.
Mindy Lacefield has been posting watercolor girls that are so adorable, so I thought I'd try making some too.
After I painted the head, I cut her out and put her in my new Jane Davenport butterfly journal.
I used the Twinkle Twinkle Little Star paper I found at Michael's for the dress. That tissue paper with the line marks also was at Michael's, I used for the legs. The striped paper for the arms, I bought from Hobby Lobby. As you can see, I'm a sucker for anything black and white!

Below is a picture of a couple more girls I did with watercolors.

So much fun to play with paints!

And on a last note, with the help from Shutterfly, I turned one of my journal pages into a 252 piece jigsaw puzzle.
It was so much fun putting it together, I was very impressed with the quality, I can't wait to turn more of my pages into puzzles!

Jane Davenport Mixed Media Line @ Michael's

Let me just say, I've been to Michael's 5 times in the last 2 days in search of the Jane Davenport mixed media line.
This is the cover I painted on her blank canvas butterfly notebook. Of course, you can see my style inspired by two of my favorite artists: Mindy Lacefield and Roben Marie Smith.
Pictured below are some of the products I purchased from Jane's line...
And here are some photos of my work in progress...
Back cover
And some photos of my inside pages...

Love the washi tape holder

And her pocket inserts

I re-purposed a Kate Spade folder into one of my inserts - love that script print

I had lots of fun playing with these products! I can't wait to start using my new notebook.

Have a great week!

Dina Wakley Small Face Stamps

I just picked up some small Dina Walkey face stamps at Michael's. I've seen them before, but finally decided to take the plunge and buy another set of stamps.
I love the sketchy look, because it allows you to be a bit more abstract with the coloring. These will be fun to add to tags, cards, journal pages, etc.

This is how it started. I first just painted some random water color splotches on paper. Be sure to leave some white areas.
Then I stamped the faces over the paint. I like to have the face image cover at least two colors of paint.
Then roughly cut out the images...
Add additional color, black lines and stamp on black marks/texts.
I also stamped a set of faces onto some of my left over scrap painted background paper.
These are some of the supplies I used for the embellishments. Stamps from Ashley Goldberg, Dina Wakley, Rubber Moon and Donna Downey.
Fun stamps to play with, I hope I've inspired you to use some of your supplies to create something different.
The background paper is from Michael's Recollection collection - Twinkle twinkle little star...love that script.

This is last minute, but if you're interested in a short mini workshop to create some of these images this Thursday, Jan 26th 10:30-12:30 $15 message me, I'll send you the details.

Happy New Years!
