Catch Up

Found some great finds at the Craft Depot this weeekend. Sample books, that I can use for my embroidery sampler and other misc projects...

Celebrated Chinese New Years with the family Saturday night - plenty of great food and it was so nice to see everyone again. Look at this amazing soup dish we had.

Rachel had to do a school project for the book she's reading, the Phantom Tollbooth...it turned out so cute.

Play Date with Sisters & Special Guest

Yesterday, the sisters (except for Diana, whose still in Hawaii) got together at Lana's house to work on the cutest pin cushion kit from Connie Govea Stuart. At first we planned the play date with out knowing that CGS was going to make a surprise visit..so it was very special that she showed up and helped us with the kit. We all loved how they turned out and we had so much fun together making them.

Some Good Finds Today

I decided to take off a half day today - so that Rachel and I could check out this Quilt/Sewing/Craft convention @ San Mateo fair grounds. There wasn't much there that interested us - but a few booths had some great deals.

This entire pile of trimming I got for less than $20 - it comes out to about .30 a yard - this will come in handy when I start embellishing my quilt.

Then this one booth was selling entire bolts of ribbon/trimming for $4 each - check out this silver one - it has over 200 yards on the bold. I picked up a few other ones too (twill, velvet, seam binding).

Then had to buy some bling - just bought a whole bolt of it - that should last a long time.

I've been interested in wool - so found this assorted scraps of wool - that should be fun to do something with.

Also found some of these old spindals.

This week, I also signed up for Teresa McFayden's new ezine for embrodiery - I thought it would be perfect, to get me going on my sampler again. I added 3 more items this week. I started this sampler last year - when reading Pam Garrison's blog and seeing her wonderful work. Also, Tammy Gilley has inspired me with her beautiful embrodiery work as well - the one mushroom design is from one of her projects.

Just 3/4 more to go...

Rachel's Recycle Clutch

The kids are off the entire week and Rachel is busy crafting away today. She has a green spirit and enjoys making things from recycle material. Today she made a wallet and a clutch from magazine pages...they're too cute - I'm so proud of her talent.

Great Skiing Weekend

We had a great time this weekend - skiing @ Northstar, in Tahoe. The snow was perfect and the sun was out...it was a bit crowded though, but not too bad...so glad we went. The kids did great on the snow too.

Snow Bound

Our skiies and cold weather gear are packed and we're headed to Tahoe for the long weekend. Not looking forward to the drive, but am looking forward to skiing and visiting with our friends. I've packed up some stamps, punches and paper for the kids to do some crafting - they're usually 4-6 young kids up there and it's fun to see what they create.

Happy Presidents Day! Valentines Day! Chinese New Year!

Rachel's Felt Food

Okay, Rachel is out crafting me...so she completed 5 more projects this weekend...while I worked back on my quilt and did some stamping & cutting with some new Catherine Moore stamps.

Here's Rachel's new projects from this weekend...Peanut Butter & Jelly jars; strawberry; carrot; cracker, cheese & ham.

Super Bowl Sunday was a beautiful day in the Bay Area...Lana, Frances, Rachel & I spent the afternoon over in San Francisco @ Japantown...how fun that was. We had lunch over there and shopped at some great little stores there, with just adorable stuff. It's now Rachel's favorite place to shop...not to mention, I found some great pieces myself. Can't wait to go back.

Rachel's Sketch Comes To Life

Rachel (11 yrs old) loves to sketch in her notebook every day - she takes the notebook to school with her and any spare time, she pulls it out and starts sketching away. Tonight, she brought one of her skteches to life (in felt). Here's some pictures of her sketch book...

More Hearts

You can never had too many hearts...I made this one tonight. A little bit of sewing, cutting and small embellishments. Nice quick project and I got some crafting in for the day.

I was happy to find this paper at Michaels' this weekend for only $3. It's the 12x12 pad from Making Memories - the vintage Findings line.

Finished Journal

I finished my "Remains of the Day" journal project by Mary Ann Moss. I loved using up old scraps (paper and fabric) and sewing everything together. I didn't take a picture of every page - but my favs...
