Fun Times @ "Art Is You"

Last week, I attended the Art Is You retreat in Petaluma and had a great time making all types of different projects. I have lots of pictures to share!
All attendees got personalized pouches - below are some that belong to the ladies sitting at my breakfast table.
My first workshop was a 2 day class with Kecia Deveney, a very talented artist.
She taught me some new soldering techniques that I can't wait to try on my own pieces. Below is a picture of my necklace in progress.
Here's the finished piece...
Below is a picture of all the finished projects made by the students, and a couple made by the teacher.
My next workshop was with Michael deMeng called: Teeny Tiny Shriney. He was also a great teacher and I learned so much about painting and adhering metal together with epoxy clay. Here's a sample that Michael made...
Below is a picture of my workstation and piece in progress...

Pictured below are the finished project from the class.
Here's a close up of my finished product:
Two special events at the retreat involved husband and wife Tracy and Teesha Moore. One morning we got to listen to how they got started in the business, and what inspires them.
And one evening they hosted a fun art project using paper napkins. We created a collage on fabric, I can't wait to shop for paper napkins now!
In fact, Teesha was selling some assorted paper napkins and I bought these:
And also bought some of her beautiful collage sheets:
My next all day workshop was with Kelly Kilmer - Pocket Planner. Boy, did she bring lots of supplies for us to use...
We made a small journal from scratch out of an old hard bound book.

And then in the afternoon, we decorated some of the inside pages.

My final class with was Andrea deMeng, called Exquisite Enigmas. By the fifth day, I was pretty burned out and I have to say, I wasn't very happy with how my project came out. Andrea was a great teacher and her work is fabulous...but I just couldn't get it.
All in all, it was a really fun retreat and I can't wait to go again next year!

  1. Connie - Thanks for sharing your wonderful experience at Art Is You. I think my favorite piece was the one you created in the Michael DeMeng class - very unusual! But I love them all!

  3. I love each one of your finished projects even though they are all so different. They all have the unique Connie touch - very show stopping, you want to examine it in detail. I'm intrigued by the colorful napkins that you made with Teesha Moore. That would make a nice craft project. I'm glad Chris is enjoying college life.
