New Paper Dolls & Photos From LA CookieCon

I just received one of Catherine Moore's lovely stamps for her latest collection called, Adventures in Tea. I couldn't wait to make some new paper dolls with it.
I stamped the doll image many times on different color papers from 6"x6" Crate Paper pad called Random. I adhered the dolls on a background of vintage book paper with an oversize tag. The best part was embellishing the doll with little bits and pieces. Here are close-up shots.
I experimented with free motion sewing. Some worked, some didn't. On the piece above I ran out of bobbin thread right in the middle of my loops - darn!
I think this doll in the black dress above is my favorite.
I love the added stitches on the side of the green dress above and of course her black and white striped handbag!
Okay, my free motion sewing totally looks like DNA strands - haha.
Thanks Catherine, love your stamps!

Last weekend, my daughter, Rachel and I went to LA CookieCon in Pasadena, CA. Rachel was sponsored by King Arthur Flour and gave a baking demo and was part of a YouTube panel on the main stage. She did a great job, I was so proud of her. Warning, below are lots of pictures from the event.
The event sold out weeks before the show. The line wrapped around the block.
Many girls stopped Rachel for her photo and autograph.
Inside the event were many booths, with lots of free samples.
Rachel stopped and talked with many of her fans.
We were excited to meet some of the chefs that competed on Master Chef. Below is Dara from season 2 of Master Chef Jr and Ahran from Master Chef season 5.
Here is a photo of Rachel on the stage getting ready for her baking demo.

They held a cookie and tablescape contest, here are some photos of the entries.

These are the on-line bakers that answered questions for the YouTube panel. It was hosted by Monte, also from MasterChef season 3.
It was an amazing event and we had such a great time!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  1. Connie, I love what you did with paper dolls. The paper pad you used had such pretty paper that was so prefect for dresses/hats.
The Cookie Con looked fun and baked goods looked amazing. Rachel looked so happy. So young and so accomplished. R

  2. Connie Bravo to Rachael! Amazingly talented....You must be super proud
OK and your paper dolls O MG love these so much!! Do u have any tips for stamping using Catherine's??? ink? etc...I sometimes don't get entire image on paper....I love the colors and all the added love love~~~Laura H :)

    1. Thanks for your sweet comments Laura! I used a Memento black ink pad and stamp on top of a cushioned mouse pad and stand up and press hard! I also think this is a good image to stamp with because there's not a lot of solid area, which tends to be difficult to get completely inked. Give it a try - good luck!

    2. TY Connie you are always so helpful...I will try I have some of her new stamps

  3. Loved your Catherine Moore paper dolls using the crate paper pad and the cute embellishments. The stitching is a nice touch to the background, even the strands of DNA lookalike. Thanks for sharing pics from Rachel's Cookie convention - so proud of her for all her achievements. So cute to see her signing autographs for her fans. The cookie entries are all so phenomenal.

  4. Your CM paper dolls are all so adorable. The free stitching really adds a lot; esp. the stitches around the green dress - that's probably my favorite.. Rachel is really coming into her own with her creative talent (Gee, I wonder where she gets it from?...LOL). Nice job and thanks for sharing!

  5. thanks for sharing your visit to cookiecom... what a huge crowd! love rachel's many involvements with sponsors..doing live demos and answering questions on a panel.. i watch masterchef jr and was happy to see that 2 of them attended too. you've raised a precious daughter... lana cano kloch
